What does it actually do?
The free scan reads publicly visible signals on your storefront — script tags, asset URLs, and widget patterns — to identify which apps are active and estimate their list prices. No access to your Shopify admin is needed for the scan.
Does it change anything in my store?
No. The free scan is entirely read-only. It makes a single HTTP request to your public storefront URL and analyzes the response. Nothing is modified, installed, or removed.
What permissions does it need?
Zero, for the free scan — it requires no OAuth, no admin access, and no account. The Monitor plan uses only the standard Shopify install flow with no extra admin scopes beyond what Shopify requires to appear in the admin.
